2012 Review

That's it! We're pretty much done with 2012.
I won't get into details, but for once I think I can safely say this was a good year for me, during which a bunch of shows were played and more music of mine was released than ever : a new Silencio album (and my first ever vinyl release) and ep, a collaboration CD with my good friend IA, as well as two separate tape ep's. I won't complain!

Also, here is my top 10 for this year, and this is as subjective as it gets:
Kyle Bobby Dunn - Bring Me the Head of...
Willamette - Always in Postscript
Chris Cohen - Overgrown Path
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Mature Themes
Mirrorring - Foreign Body
Billow Observatory - s/t
Sun Kil Moon - Among the Leaves
Windy & Carl - We Will Always Be
Converge - All We Love We Leave Behind
The Sea & Cake - Runner

...and on a last and fairly random note, here is a video edit on a live track recorded at Silencio's show in Brussels back in June:

Happy new year!

"Shine EP" Out Now on Eglantine

Julien Demoulin "Shine EP" limited tape

And here is my last release for this year (year end recap coming up)... a companion release to the "Tough Love" ep released earlier this year. The "Shine" ep is also available both on tape and digitally, and it features collaborations from Andria Degens (aka Pantaleimon) as well as Damian Valles.

Have a listen to / download "Girl Tomorrow" from Soundcloud:

It is out on Eglantine Records (created by yours truly some ten years ago) and you can buy this release directly from Bandcamp below; tapes are limited in quantities, and available in a blue or orange shell.
You can also listen to the whole thing if you'd like!

Grounding Sounds Mix

Yet another mix! This one is a bit special though, as it is my entry into the Grounding Sounds series run by Harry Towel aka Spheruleus:
"Artists will present their 'special' records in their collection in either a one or two part mix. The music will play as a radio show designed to enable you to discover what inspired your favourite musicians and labels."

Spring update

So the Tough Love EP has been delayed a bit, but will be released April 28th on Of Plants / Resting Bell. The last two tracks will differ on the two versions, and there will be a video for one of the tracks. More about this soon.

The Bay has been getting good reviews here and there, check them out!

2011 - 2012

Greetings, dear reader, and happy new year!

So, I thought I'd post a best of 2011 thing, as well as some thoughts on what's to come.
Here are the ten releases from last year that I enjoyed the most! They come highly recommended. Check them if you didn't get a chance to when they came out.

The Caretaker - An Empty Bliss Beyond This World
Toro Y Moi - Underneath The Pine
A Winged Victory For The Sullen - s/t
Belong - Common Era
Kyle Bobby Dunn - Ways Of Meaning
Willamette - Echo Park
Christina Vantzou - N°1
Harold Budd - In The Mist
John Maus - We Must Be The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves
Real Estate - Days

In 2011, released my first EP, Fanø, as well as two compilation appearances. That isn't much, but I spent most of the year making and recording music; about 6 releases in total, incuding collaborations and EP's. I am quite satisfied with that, and cannot wait to bring some of those to you.
The first one will be the first of two Silencio albums, "When I'm Gone", out on CD/LP on three:four records in late January or early February.
"The Bay" will come out on CD on Basses Fréquences / Ronda shortly after that.
My "Tough Love EP" will come out on limited tape on Of Plants, and digitally on Resting Bell; the last two tracks will differ depending on the format.

Until then, here's the first video off the new Silencio album. enjoy!
